Excerpt from a Published Autobiography "My Enemy, Myself"
by Meri Kennedy discussing her battle with Borderline Personality Disorder
Screaming out of control
In the darkness of despair,
Afraid to think or feel
No trust in what you hear
The true credible witness
In the healing of this crime,
Is known simply as Michael
Who gave the gift of time
I had no reality to measure
No comparison to make,
No true and clear definition
Of a goal or what’s at stake
The journey of my healing
Became such an endless road,
Years of pain and disgust
In all that I had told
Michael stayed beside me
And worked with me each week,
Not always giving answers
Often helping me find the questions that I seek
As if in any car crash
My childhood was frightening – much to disturb,
Yet the true credible witness
Was Michael watching from the curb
